What Is A Bruise?
A Bruise is an injury to the tissue in which the capillaries are damaged, and the blood seeps into the surrounding tissue.

A Bruise can be caused from any of the following;

  • Blunt impact or trauma.
  • Surgery or Invasive Cosmetic Procedures.
  • Injections from Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, or Sculptra.
  • Age-thinning of the skin

The Bruised area will be repaired by the body in approximately 2-3 weeks depending on the severity.  It is important to attend to the bruise immediately to “speed the healing”. Bruises change color over time. When a bruise first appears it will be reddish, reflecting the color of blood in the skin. By day 2 the reddish iron from the blood undergoes change, and the bruise will appear blue or purple. By the end of the first week the bruise appears to be greener, and by day 9 the bruise will appear to be yellow to brown.
